Bass Day '98 - VHS Video

Item number 2540046FQ, $24.95

Bass Day 1998 brought together bass players from all over the globe to NYC, to attend an event that featured four of the world's most celebrated bass players, in a day that made bass history. This 105 minute VHS video features the four artists listed below:

Michael Manring has developed a unique approach to the bass as a solo instrument. At Bass Day '98, he kicked things off with a set of fascinating solo pieces on four different instruments in various tunings, including one piece where he played all four basses at the same time!

Andy Gonzalez is recognized as one of today's leading bass players in the Afro-Cuban tradition. At Bass Day he led a group of top Latin musicians in a scorching set of contemporary and traditional Afro Cuban music. Bobby Rodriguez, one of the most influential bassists in the history of Latin music, joins Andy, and is presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Francis Rocco Prestia has earned a place among the all-time great bass stylists. Here, accompanied by TOP members, David Garibaldi and Jeff Tamelier, along with original member Lenny Pickett, he performs a burning set of TOP classics, including "Oakland Stroke", "Squib Cakes", and "What Is Hip?", plus tunes from his acclaimed solo album. He also talks about creating a groove, his early days with TOP, and more.

Victor Wooten has been named Bass Player Of The Year by Bass Player Magazine for the past two years. At Bass Day '98 he presented a set of amazing music that stretched from serious funk to beautiful ballads, with plenty of stops in between. Victor is joined on stage by the great Oteil Burbridge. A tour de force by one of the most creative musicians performing today.

This video is in NTSC format, and will work only in U.S. and Canadian VCR's.
